Privacy Policy

The short version

SkyGrade has no accounts, no ads, and no analytics or tracking scripts. We don't sell or share personal data.

What's stored in your browser

The site saves two settings in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme choice (sg-theme) and whether city labels are shown (sg-labels). It never leaves your device, and you can clear it any time in your browser settings. We don't use cookies.

Server and network logs

The site is served through Cloudflare, which proxies requests to our server. Like nearly every website, Cloudflare and our server keep standard request logs, which include your IP address, the page or file requested, the time, and your browser's user agent. We use these logs only to run and secure the site, for example to diagnose errors and stop abuse. They are kept for a short period and then deleted. Cloudflare processes this data under its own privacy policy.

No third-party requests

Fonts, images, and scripts are served from skygrade.io itself, so loading the site doesn't send requests to font services, ad networks, or analytics providers.

Location search

Searching for a town or address sends the text you type to our server, which looks it up with the Photon geocoder (komoot, built on OpenStreetMap data). Your IP address is not passed along. "Use my location" asks your browser for your position; it stays in your browser and is only used to place the pin on the map. The pin's coordinates appear in the page URL so you can share it.

Email alerts

If you sign up for email alerts, we store your email address, the spot you chose (its name and coordinates), and your alert settings. We use them only to send the alerts you asked for. Emails are sent through Resend, which processes your address to deliver them. We never sell or share your email, and we don't track opens or clicks.

Every alert email has a link to change or stop alerts. Unsubscribing deletes that alert, including your email address and location, from our records. Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted.

SkyGrade on X

The @skygradeio account on X posts forecast graphics automatically. The bot only publishes posts; it does not read, store, or analyze your profile, followers, likes, replies, or direct messages. When you interact with SkyGrade on X, that activity is handled by X under X's own privacy policy.

SkyGrade is a general-audience weather site and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
